Made in a Kitchen, not in a Factory
freshfetch meals come to life in a kitchen, and are prepared by human hands. Each meal is carefully crafted and each ingredient is weighed to be sure the exact amount is included to provide the correct nutrition. All of this is accomplished under the supervision of Chef Mike, a trained culinary chef with a resume that includes the Four Seasons Hotel, Los Angeles Restaurant Row, and a certain mansion in Holmby Hills that all of us recognize.
As Digestible as your own food, and Suitable for Your Table
To answer the question of suitablilty for your dog, answer the question for yourself. Veterinarians and nutritionists alike all say, the best food for your dog is the same food you eat yourself.
We prepare the same quality of food for these meals as you would expect to be served at your own table, so it's fully digestible, appetizing, and nutritious.
How we make Real Meals for Dogs
We start with USDA Inspected Grade A ingredients like Top Round of Beef, Spring Lamb Leg, and Free-Range Turkey. We use lean meat and carefully portioned fats, to supply the essential fatty acids that are necessary in the diet, and work in harmony with Omega-3 and Omega-6 sources in our foods.
Then, we select fresh produce like fresh Green Peas, Young Carrots and wholesome Sweet Potato.
To this, we add cold-pressed olive and golden flaxseed oils in a proper mix of Omega-6 to Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids.
We combine these ingredients in the right amounts to create a macronutrient mix of 40% Protein, 30% Fats, and 30% Carbohydrate.
We top it all off with a sprinkle of brown flaxseeds.
How We Prepare Meats and Fish
Meats are baked in an oven to a temperature that will kill most dangerous food-borne pathogens, yet still retain an amino acid profile that is virtually identical to the raw meat or fish. Then, hand cut into cubes or shreds.
How We Prepare Produce
Fresh fruits and vegetables are wonderful sources of carbohydrate energy, fiber, water and micronutrients like vitamins, minerals and enzymes. To properly prepare these important food sources, we avoid cooking at all. Instead, we quickly blanche, then quickly cool, leaving the vegetables easily digestible, and enzyme active.
FDA-Nutrition Labels
No other pet food manufacturer provides FDA nutrition labels like the ones you see on your own food. Why? FDA labeling requires accurate disclosure. It's hard to hide just what and how much is in your food. That's why we use them. We want you to know.
No Preservatives
And we mean none.
No Artificial Anything
We even reject "organic" foods when we test them and find trace chemicals in them.
Recognizable Ingredients
You'll recognize, and be able to pronounce, every ingredient.

We work closely with veterinarians, nutritionists, and the best science we can find. In doing so, we've become quite good at analyzing nutritional requirements, and creating incredible holistic diets for dogs from pure, real food. We often find people trying to do what we do, who call themselves pet or dog nutritionists. We don't --not because we don't have the skills to understand dog nutrition, but because the certification as a veterinary nutritionist is an advanced degree that shouldn't be claimed by just anyone.
We started freshfetch in 2007 in a protest of outrage over deaths and illness of hundreds of dogs. Those deaths, attributable to multiple failures in the commercial pet food markets, left us angry and determined to find a better way to feed our dogs home cooked meals.
So, before we launched freshfetch, we dug into the research -- and there's a lot of it. Years later, we've recruited the support and assistance of veterinarians, nutritionists, breeders and pet owners to help us keep creating the perfect food for dogs. We can make that claim because what we discovered is remarkable. We need to do practically nothing to it!
In fact, it's our mission to get this whole food to you and your dog without messing it up with chemicals, preservatives or processing. About all we do is add the right mix of natural vitamins and minerals, suitable for your own use, to be sure that the food meets the guidelines set by the National Research Council, and also the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO). Then, along with the pet food labels you're used to seeing, we also label it with FDA-compliant nutrition facts labels, unlike any other dog food you'll find. We do this to demonstrate to you that our food actually contains exactly the ingredients we say it contains, and not some minimum or maximum amount as standard pet food labeling allows.
You can rest assured that if we wouldn't eat it ourselves, it will never become part of our fine food for dogs. You'll recognize the food in each of our Real Meals for Dogs™, because it's whole food in every sense. Except for the high-quality ground meats & salmon in our popular fresh Bites™, nothing in our food is ground beyond recognition. Grinding is a frequent camouflage used by many commercial processed food manufacturers for low-cost, rejected meats & produce. You'll be able to pronounce every ingredient, recognize it, and feed it to your best friend with no guilt. And, since we don't grind, you'll know that enzymes are still potent, and haven't begun to interact with other proteins in the package.
And, these meals feature single-source proteins, to aid in isolating any food sensitivities.
When your dog eats freshfetch Real Meals for Dogs, you'll notice a difference. Whole foods are the best foods for all mammals, and when you feed freshfetch you can be sure that your dog simply cannot eat a better food.
That's our promise to you.
